Journey to Kampung Naga Village

Kampung Naga is located in area of Neglasari Village, Salawu district, Tasik Malaya, West Java. Kampung Naga is a village where the people holding their tradition very strong and they are believe their ancestors. kapung Naga located not far between the border road Garut and Tasik Malaya. The village located on the fertile valley and most of the people on that village working as farmer.

The name of kampung Naga actually because the village located near the forest named Naga Forest where's the local people believe that on the forest there's lied the grave of their ancestor, named Mbah Singaparna. Thats the reason why Naga forest become sacred for the people. The distance to kampung Naga from Tasik Malaya city approximately about 30kms. But to reach the village we have to climb down the ladder in the wall to the bank of Ciwulan river about 500meters.

Local People of Kampung Naga

kampung Naga become popular for reseacrch of anthropology studies since the local people in there still holding their tradition and believe in ancestors. The religion of the people in the village is "Sunda Wiwitan". They are Muslim, but still holding their tradition (animism), because they still get Hindu influence on their religion. Because of their tradition also thats why they have different rules for the praying with the Muslim rule. The people only pray once in a week, and in Muslim rule, praying is 5 times in a day. Another side from the local people in there, the people still believe in "ghost". and its not allowed also for the people to talk about their culture and their tradition to the people on day tuesday, wednesday, and saturday.

In that village, we cant find electricity. The people live from their farm and pond. For water, they have Ciwulan river that they always use for cooking, washing, and their daily activities. In their house, there's no furnished. Its also not allow for the people for making house from cements. thats why they build their house with wood and bamboo.

Tangkuban Perahu

Kawah ratu (Queen Crater), the biggest crater on Tangkuban Perahu area.

Tangkuban perahu is a active volcano mount that located on West Java, Indonesia. It is about 20 kms north of bandung and located between Sagalaherang Village in Sagalaherang district in Subang Regency, and also Cikole village on Lembang District, Bandung Regency, West Java. Because the location between two district of two different regency, Tangkuban perahu become the border between Subang and Bandung. Tangkuban Perahu is an interesting destionation for everyone in the Bandung area. With the beautiful panorama of the great Mountain with the great lake with sulfur smell and cold weather, u can feel amazing attraction in there.

The biggest crater on tangkuban Perahu is Queen Crater or "Kawah Ratu", and the last crater that been erupted on 1970s is Upas crater. And Tangkuba Perahu is one of the active volcano in Indonesia. the eruption only throw the dangerous gases and when the eruption happen, this place is close for the visitors.

Beside the two big crater that mentione, there's another crater called "Kawah Domas". To reach that crater u have to walk for 1,2 kilometers from the Ratu Crater. During the trip to the Domas crater, there's alot of vendor street offer you to buy eggs to cook because the water inside the crater is hot.

Tangkuban Perahu means, in fact, "up-turned boat". This is because the shape of the mountain looks like upturned boat if you see from bandung city. And its connecting to the legend of the Sundanese people from early times as expressed in the Legend of Sangkuriang. It tells story about a young man (Sangkuriang) who fall in love to a woman (Dayang Sumbi) that is his real mother. They separated for long time since Sangkuriang was a child. 20 years after, sangkuriang back to his village and met with beautiful woman (Dayang Sumbi) and they love each other without knowing the fact that Sangkuriang is her son. They planned to marry. But one day before marry, dayang Sumbi realize that sangkuriang actually is her son who separated with her. After knowing that fact, Dayang Sumbi canceled the marriage and told the truth to Sangkuriang but he didnt believe the truth. dayang Sumbi asked sangkuriang to build a beautiful lake and filling the lake with water. And sangkuriang also needs to build boat to sail on that lake. And dayang Sumbi requested to Sangkuriang to do those all jobs in one night. Sangkuriang finally asking help from the Guriang (God in Ancient in Sundanese story). And dayang sumbi worried that Sangkuriang able to do her request so she tried to make Sangkuriang failed and her efforts success. sangkuriang got angry and kick the boat that he made to the lake that he made and become the volcano mount now called Tangkuban Perahu.

Green Canyon

Location : Cijulang, West Java

Green Canyon (Cukang Taneuh) is one of the famous object in West Java. located in the village of Kertayasa, in Cijulang. It is 31 kms from south of Pangandaran. The history why the name is Cukang Taneuh is because there's a brigde between the two big cliffs between the river. And the local people called the place Cukang Taneuh. Cukang its mean bridge and taneuh mean land.

The name of Green Canyon actually was given by the Western People since its difficult for them to say the original name of Green Canyon (Cukang Taneuh) and because the color of the river of Cijulang look so green and very clean. The green color of the river is because surrounding the river, there's two big cliffs and beautiful forest, and the green color is coming from the shadow of the trees because of the sunlight. But also some people think that the green color is coming from the depth color of the Cijulang river since the water is very clean.

At the entrance u have to sailing from the harbour to the cave. Its take about like 20 minutes to reach the cave. But during on the boat u will see the beautiful view of stalactite and stalagmite by the two beautiful green hills. At the cave of Green Canyon, lies very beautiful waterfall named Palatar Waterfall. The waterfall gives the area fully adventurous. You can swimming, sailing, fishing, or just looking around to enjoying the view of green canyon from the boat.
